Here in Australia (Sydney Harbour especially), authorities are starting to
get serious about toilet discharge. Few people actually have holding tanks
fitted as yet, a blind eye seems to be turned to it at the moment!

I've come up with a holding tank setup which I think would be suitable for
my boat and would greatly appreciate your comments before I go
buying/setting up anything.

Boat is a Compass 29 foot sailboat, heavy full keeler.
From your online article, I know you prefer under the v berth for tank
location but this prime real estate is my sail locker! Also this location
places tank slightly above toilet level.

I do have a long, deep and wide bilge running the full length of the main
cabin.
This could easily fit a tank 4ft x 1ft x 1ft, still leaving room for bilge
pumps and bilge water. Forward end of the tank would be just aft of toilet
which is just forward of mast, port side. This places the top of tank about
a foot below the bottom of the toilet pump. This also means tank is
perfectly amidships.

One concern with this setup is that the vent hose would be about 8 feet long
if lead to the point of the bow. Maybe this could be helped by an extra vent
hose leading to the stern for good air flow? Fitting big one and a half inch
vent hoses would be no problem. Deck discharge hose would be about 6-7 foot
long. Is this too long?

Apart from that, I want the system set up as a three way system.
1. discharge to tank for later pumpout
2. discharge to tank for later overboard dumping
3. discharge directly overboard
