Let's say you're sailing along, nice breeze, boat is heeled just about
right & driving like a bullet.... suddenly there's a very loud BANG!!! and the boat stops (nearly throwing everybody off the front) as though it hit a wall (or perhaps a submerged locomotive). Let's say the helmsman reports that the boat is steering OK, so obviously the daggerboard isn't broken clean off; but you look down into the trunk and see suspicious looking spintery fiberglass chunks. http://data.sailboatowners.com/photos/1236651391.jpg http://data.sailboatowners.com/photos/1236650353.jpg http://data.sailboatowners.com/photos/1236651501.jpg Let's say, this really happened but it's nothing we can't fix... in fact, the first stage of repair is already started. http://data.sailboatowners.com/photos/1236649106.jpg BTW if any of you are planning to sail the upper Neuse River any time soon, let me know and I'll tell you where this object is located (approximately); it is in water that lots of people sail over & around often without our luck. Hopefully the 'board will be fixed before next weekend. Fresh Breezes- Doug Kiong |
