I ended up with 8 guage jumper wires, reworked as noted above. Most times I am still starting with the rope cold anyway. I tried a set of 2 guage jumper cables with a brandy new interstate "Marine Starting" battery from Sears and it did exactly the same thing as with the smaller, although marine too, battery and the 8 guage cables so I took the big battery back after doing a load test on the smaller one just to be sure. Still going to need to remove and rebuild the starter this winter, only problem is when as we boat pretty much all season as long as there is not too much ice on the river ![]() |
