Default correcting scratched glass?

On Sun, 20 May 2007 00:12:59 -0800, ray lunder
wrote stuff
and I replied:

FME, only with a lot of hard work...and luck. I bought some stuff to
do this, and i the end I gave up and replaced the widnshield. I could
get improvement, but never really good visibility. I spent about 2
hours in a small area, to test the idea.

If it's really glass ,then forget it.

Ahoy, I have a portlight that someone scratched up, perhaps by using a
wire wheel to clean the bronze. The glass is all scratched up. Is
there some kind of compound that would buff it out?
Thanks.
