Default Options: Upgrade or fix 1959 Batt/Charging system?

1959 40' SeaSkiff #SK-40-164.

Looks like the original charging unit/convertor has died due to being
underwater for 10 days.

Not sure if I should:
1) Remove and try to find someone to repair.
2) Try to find another old one to keep the boat original.
3) Simply upgrade to something current.

thanks.
