Hello, This is the first time I have been to this newsgroup. What are the rules regarding mentioning ("advertising") of boatbuilding-related services? In a word, don't. Be generous with advice and problem solving, but actively soliciting business or offering any product for sale is a definitely frowned upon. You can, however, answer questions about any product or service you have to offer...and, as Steve said, include a link and/or other contact information for your company in your signature. I think you'll discover that the main benefit of participating online is the knowledge you'll gain from interacting with so many people in so many different places, who have so many different perspectives and needs....problems to solve, and experiences to share. The 10+ years I've spent online have exposed me to literally thousands more problems--and sometimes VERY creative solutions to them that actually work--than I'd ever have seen in just my own "back yard."
