Default Navigation Question #9

You are giving advice to a friend on how to take a
three bearing fix.

What would be the key points you would want to
make? [1 pt]

Angle of separation between the points.

Minimize drift or movement between measurements.

Distance to points - minimize (assuming angle accuracy remains the same).

What sort of angles would you want?

If moving, in what order would you take the LOPs?

What sort of angles would you want?

-If they were all orthogonal (at right angles to each other) you would get
the most accuracy.

If moving, in what order would you take the LOPs?

-Good question. If moving, take the bearings that move the most last, ie
bearings at right angles to your motion.
