I did indeed. I attributed it to the author's lack of familiarity with the
English grammar.

Yep, and my crew was very happy to get to hospital in Crete.

Tell me Scooter would you abandon your boat if you sprained an ankle?
(Now that this has degenerated from my original comment that if the
boat is still afloat unmanned then it was abandoned too quickly)
