Marty, A very good question. I don't have an answer for you. Just to many people are scared to death about the change over. We do have a lot of Neal types that refuse to change. By the way; I've almost changed over and use factors for English. I still have a lot of trouble with linear measurements. I convert to metric after I cut the plank. Sorry. http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomJazz http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomPage The problem is teaching the comparison...it's just like learning a language..if you're translating in your head all the time you'll never be able to speak...you just have to learn it flat out and use it that way and not think linear...same with temperatures...the system does more to hinder learning by making the comparison when none is needed...I hate it when elementary texts define a meter as "a bit more than a yard"....What's that supposed to mean? |
