So you are getting into racing?

Probably, but it also races. In New England they rate about 220.
Maxdope's Sea Slug 34 is two feet longer, weighs 7500 pounds LESS, and
would rate 192. The Westsail, incidentally, also has a higher
theoretical hull speed than Maxdope's boat. My present 27 foot boat
would also sail circles around poor Maxdope, and his under-canvassed
imitation Cape Dory, despite the rather large size difference.

Oh but for the opportunity to embarrass you and make you eat those words.
Fortunately I'll likely never have to meet you vis-a-vis. I'm sure I
wouldn't like you in the least. But I'd love to show you just how
completely ignorant and comical you are.

Your tiny budget boat couldn't catch my yacht on any point of sail in any
wind condition. I've sailed against 30' C&Cs and left them well behind.
It's doubtful your toy POS could stay within reading distance of my transom
moniker for more than a mile or so.

Feel free to make PHRF ratings your personal god, but be advised that false
gods impress only the ignorant and inexperienced.

Max

Your boat is a slug. A 34 foot boat with a VERY short waterline and a SAD
of
about 15. FIFTEEN! Heeling increases your waterline slightly, but does not
increase your meager sail area one bit. You would have to run your engine
to
keep up with me. PHRF ratings are based on something Max. They don't
always tell
the whole story, but the rest of the story in your case doesn't get any
better.
You have an overweight, undercanvassed slug.

Spoken like the brain-dead know-it-all (who knows nothing) you have proven
yourself to be over the past several years, BB, ekal bnek, or whatever your
sock-puppet-of-the-month happens to be.

From BEST BOATS TO BUILD OR BUY by Ferenc Mate':

Chapter 13 "One for the Heart" The Luders (Sea Sprite) 34

Page 162, second paragraph:

"And don't think for a minute that the Luders (Sea Sprite) 34 is slow.
Remember she is designed by a man who knew all about fast hulls and fast
boats, and that has been proven out by Gary Lanagan who has been sailing his
34 out of Newport for a year and has done extremely well in all the local
races."

Further, Clover won second in her division in the Chicago-Mac under the
previous owner, beating substantially longer, and ostensibly faster, boats.

Somehow I tend to find the words of a noted author and the history of my
boat to be far more convincing than the ignorant prattle of a know-it-all
miscreant.

Tell us--do you have to use Whitworth spanners on that infant's toy you
sail?

BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
