If so maybe, but IIRC the legend may be a bit older than your friend. I think it has to do with volcanic holes and caves sounding like organ pipes in the wind. Sailors at sea that hear the music are intrigued and lured to find the source.. but are sailing towards certain disaster. Joe |

The Hunter 19 had a mast prop on the stern that was an aluminum pole with a crutch at the top. It also had a hole thru it a foot or so down from the top. This hole would occasionally blow a series of notes (to the same harmonic), sometimes even two at once. The first time I heard it, it did sound like a flute in the distance.
