Are you really going to make me dig out my receipts? Okay. We stayed last visit at the Marriott Sydney Harbour. They warned you about going places at the Marriott? It's a regular watering hole for me and friends who work in that part of the city. A very short stroll to the Rocks and some of the best dining in Sydney. I don't recall the parts of the city we were told to avoid, but yes, the Marriott staff gave us a few caveats, when asked. They were trying to make you feel at home...or get you to pay for a limo :-) We had a rental car, which they had arranged. Prior to that we stayed at the Sir Stamford, but couldn't get in on the next visit--they were booked. Their prices are excellent. At Circular Quay or Double Bay? Circular Quay, near the city center. Superb accommodations. I have stayed there when we have been to a show at the Opera House. Next time we're planning to stay at the Shangri la. They're prices aren't. I don't know about that. Spent a night there a year back but don't recall what it cost Rooms begin at about $300 per night. Any recommendations? Difficult to beat the Marriott... It was nice, but we really liked the Stamford. Seems they book up before most other hotels. Max |
