Are you really going to make me dig out my receipts? Okay. We stayed last visit at the Marriott Sydney Harbour. They warned you about going places at the Marriott? It's a regular watering hole for me and friends who work in that part of the city. A very short stroll to the Rocks and some of the best dining in Sydney. I don't recall the parts of the city we were told to avoid, but yes, the Marriott staff gave us a few caveats, when asked. They were trying to make you feel at home...or get you to pay for a limo :-) We had a rental car, which they had arranged. Prior to that we stayed at the Sir Stamford, but couldn't get in on the next visit--they were booked. Their prices are excellent. At Circular Quay or Double Bay? Circular Quay, near the city center. Superb accommodations. I have stayed there when we have been to a show at the Opera House. Next time we're planning to stay at the Shangri la. They're prices aren't. I don't know about that. Spent a night there a year back but don't recall what it cost Rooms begin at about $300 per night. Any recommendations? Difficult to beat the Marriott... It was nice, but we really liked the Stamford. Seems they book up before most other hotels. Max |

OzOne wrote in message news ![]() I love the west coast. Spent a month there last year all around Tahoe but unfortunately it wasn't the best season there. It wasn't the best season anywhere last year, sadly. I went to Colorado and experienced the worst snow I could ever remember. When I was a pro ski patrolman at Breckenridge in the Seventies, we typically had in excess of 200" per season. Last year they'd had a bit more than 90" by the middle of February. You guys don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about. "2005-06 was the first season since 1998-99 with more ski areas having above average snow than below. The Northern Rockies and Northern Colorado had abundant snow from the start, with Utah similarly blessed from early December and the Pacific States from the holidays onwards. Only the far Southwest suffered, with minimal natural snow before March." - http://members.aol.com/crockeraf/seas06.htm Colorado had record snowfall. Tahoe absolutely got *pasted* late in the season. Sorry you were't in the right place at the right time, but last year was a *very* good year (except New Mexico). // Walt // // There is no Volkl Conspiracy |

It started out as pink snow and then the dust/dirt seemed to accumulate into a layer of dirt. It was ugly, but it was snow. -- Marty |

Yeah, things were rather different back then. Thankfully we've evolved since then. Thanks for the specifics. you're welcome, certainly weren't as bad as in Watts. Funny how things get blown out of proportion when it comes to Chicago. Like the 68 Democratic Convention, which by some accounts was a Boy Scout Jamboree compared to what happened in Miami, where there were several deaths. I guess the Republicans were better at managing publicity even back then. I encountered it at Copper - not too bad as long as it was cold, but once it warmed up it had the characteristics of Elmer's glue - no glide whatsoever. //Walt |

You guys don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about. No ****. Last year here in Colorado is one of the better years I recall in quite a while. From Mid November, it just snowed all the time, until about the end of March. We didn't get much from then on. Colorado had record snowfall. Tahoe absolutely got *pasted* late in the season. Sorry you were't in the right place at the right time, but last year was a *very* good year (except New Mexico). Fuggin A! Right on! And we are off to a decent start this year. We will see how it goes, but a decent chunk of my Beloved is open. // Walt // // There is no Volkl Conspiracy What? No Volkl Conspiracy? Hmm..... Oh, Walt, did I mention just how much fun I had on MY Volkl's both days last weekend at my Loveland? Damn fine ride indeed. Yummy good. Goin' again this weekend. And there were bare spots everywhere. Were we in the Colorado of a parallel universe? :-) Max |
