Default A bad day for some folks....

We really got clobbered last night....lots of boats knocked off their
moorings, dragged and a few sunk....It was a bad day for a lot of
people.
Look at this C&C(?) being towed away after it dragged it's mooring
(which then fouled another boat and snapped) and hit the bridge!

and the bridge itself....a 33 foot boat pinned against it. Another boat
can be seen trapped beneath in the BG and that's what's left of a wood
spar as well from another boat that partially sank on the other side.
Two hours later a 40 foot blue water cruiser of some kind also popped
the mooring and hit the bridge. 3 boats were also washed ashore that I
could see. Once again our club and her slips took minimal damage. I
went there at 6:00 am to add some lines to Heart of Gold and she had
lost a spring line, but was fine. I came back at 11:00 and the carnage
was ongoing. Police and FDNY were running around.

I'm hoping to go sailing tomorrow.

Yep...had the little casio with me. There were a lot of people taking
pics as the tow boats tried to pull the boats clear. There was also a
cable TV news crew there.
I expect things will be worse today. Winds at Execution Rocks topped 65
MPH last night and they're still hitting 45 now. I went to the Island
at 2:00 am to check my boat and a few others and the breakwater was
totally awash.

How did those two boats fair?

How many dock lines do you use? Our marina actually has a
rule that you must double your lines after October. it's
amazing what some people use for dock lines.
