We really got clobbered last night....lots of boats knocked off their
moorings, dragged and a few sunk....It was a bad day for a lot of people. Look at this C&C(?) being towed away after it dragged it's mooring (which then fouled another boat and snapped) and hit the bridge! http://members.aol.com/bobsprit/images/brifdge2.jpg and the bridge itself....a 33 foot boat pinned against it. Another boat can be seen trapped beneath in the BG and that's what's left of a wood spar as well from another boat that partially sank on the other side. Two hours later a 40 foot blue water cruiser of some kind also popped the mooring and hit the bridge. 3 boats were also washed ashore that I could see. Once again our club and her slips took minimal damage. I went there at 6:00 am to add some lines to Heart of Gold and she had lost a spring line, but was fine. I came back at 11:00 and the carnage was ongoing. Police and FDNY were running around. http://members.aol.com/bobsprit/images/bridge.jpg I'm hoping to go sailing tomorrow. RB 35s5 NY |
