Jim,
You ask a question and get a reply that isn't what you wanted to hear isn't being mad. Your reaction is very wrong. I has to agree with Katy; your reaction to the truth definitely needs improvement. I do believe that is all that she meant by getting "Calluses!" As in developing a "thickening of your skin" so to speak. If you're going to hang around this group and express dumb opinions, you are going to get rather sharp replies. Get use to it or take off! We won't change for you, Your obligation to change. That is if you want to be accepted. We don't run people off;---- we just ignore them. As I'm about to do with you. Ole Thom |

As in developing a "thickening of your skin" so to speak. wo, wo, wo - I did express that I was wrong when I pointed it out - I only mentioned the Coleman stove because Brad & DSK mentioned other types of burners - but I admit that - but then here's katy's responses: "...not used to USENET yet huh?..." There's an insult that was totally unwarranted. "...You're going to "shoot" up and down the coast in a vessel that at best will go 7 knots?" What's with the "shoot" in quotations and why question my intention - I just met a guy in a forum who is a photographer and lives aboard - waiting to hear back from him about his bix - he's in Australia. "... And grow some callous..." And where did that come from? I read the posts previos to that - maybe I missed it but I didn't see where I communicated in a terse way to a response. So after those remarks, I responded in kind - how is that wrong - really. I don't give a **** what anyone thinks of me - life's too short - but am I supposed to be a pansy ass and allow someone to so quickly shoot an insult my way - that's a pansy. So don't confuse thin skin with someone who has balls enough to give it back. But Thom - I really don't care - you're responses were respectful so you seem okay to me - and if I was actually the one to say something inappropriate first - Then "I am sorry." But that's also usenet - there are so many nasty people in here or peeps who feel that an insulting remark is okay - when is an insult okay in a face-to-face social setting - NEVER? 'nuff said - if you are more prone to insults then to proper manners - then you are insecure and an ass. It's just here peeps are never face-to-face so insecure can get off on their bad side and not experience any repurcussions. To quote Cartman" "wha'eva" To quote Jimi: "I am the one who has to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life the way I want to - sing on brother, play on trumpet." If you're going to hang around this group and express dumb opinions, you are going to get rather sharp replies. Get use to it or take off! We won't change for you, Your obligation to change. That is if you want to be accepted. We don't run people off;---- we just ignore them. As I'm about to do with you. Dude, I'm sorry to hear all that - just do one thing - show me where I was the instigator and I will apologize - that's all - I swear to God - I'm sorry if it was my fault - how many times do I have to say it - but for crying out loud I'm not gonna let katy just spout out a quip without firing back - how could you have respect for someone wwho doesn't do that? But it sounds like it doesn't matter - you - and I assume everyone else - have made up your mind to ignore me - that's kind of extreme, but whatever. Jim |

First - you're such a dickhead - and working for 13 years means I can't cut it, huh? You're a genius aren't you? And there's is only one way to climb the corporate ladder - you have to be a scumbag that ****s over your co-workers - thaat's not for me, but I'm willing to bet that's right up your alley. And since I work with people like you - I want to get out so that I don't get infected with the same low integrity and morality. But you wouldn't know anything about that - would you. All that you're concerned is getting off on being a dick -0 and I'm sure you're that way in person with people in your life. You need to relax 'cause you aew way too uptight. Man - what happened - who hurt you? Wife leave you or does it go back to your childhood. You're a nightmare with some serious issues - and that at least makes me smile - knowing that you're a mess - couldn't happen to a nicer guy. |

It;s rude to use crude language in a public forum...also to make ad hominem attacks...you have a rather duplistic set of values, Jim. You set yourself up as a target and then "bang", revert to attack. A nice person would either laugh off Scotty's attack, turn the other cheek, or try to discover just what it was that set the other off. Now, why don't we all just go back to discussing sailing. What other questions do you have? Have you ever been sailing? On waht type of boat? In what waters? |

This week a friend pointed out some things that helped my boat to sail better. I had the jib leads too far forward , and by heading up farther than I normally do, the boat leveled off better. Don't know if my VMG was better or not, but the ride was a lot smoother, with a lot less weather helm. Scotty |

Scotty Makes for a flatter sail...in more ways than one...I leave all the VMG discussion to the guys stewing in their mathematical hazes...it's not necessary for just sailing around...I like to tweak sails to get more out of them and to get a higher point, but making sailing into a physics or math problem just doesn't interest me...I'm sure that some would be aghast at this but hey, I sail because I like to sail...it's more a visceral thing for me than some problem to be solved. Got enough problems to solve in real life without looking for them while sailing. |
