I find it amusing that you and the left wing are the first to condemn

for his role with big oil, but turn around and advocate $5 per gallon

That's pretty much of a piece with their other positions--more taxes so
gumming bureaucrats can redistribute money from those who earned it to
those
who didn't.

Redistribution of wealth--a fundamental tenet of liberal philosophy.

Forced redistribution of wealth is theft.

Charity is the way to go.

It also hits small business in a big way...my son-in-law runs a tree
service. It's him and a part-time guy that comes along when he has to
climb to handle the ropes...his business is gas intensive...the chipper
wagon, the stump grinder, the various chain saws, his loader...when he
tried to pass on the increased cost of gas in his estimates, he started to
lose business. So instead, he is now quoting his old prices and working a
midnight shift job to boot...what;s right about that? I'm sure most
farmer's are in the same boat, as well as landscape guys...even with the
ag benefits on diesel, it's still horrendous...and when gas goes up, so
does everything else...so then you not only have people unable to go
anywhere, they also can't afford to buy gresh vegetables tha thacve been
tricked in at exorbiatant prices.

Have you not read Adam Smith?

It's the guiding hand, Katy.

With astronomical gasoline and fuel oil prices that tree will be worth more.
People will cut down trees to heat their homes or power their cars.

I, Gilligan, have devised the most efficient and benign form of
transportation yet!

It's the geothermal car! Next will be the geothermal boat!

Hisssss!!!!

Well, that's certainly changed... in fact during Clinton's presidency.
Ooops.

Yep, look at how many were trained to become politician's
interns

Problem is, they came out of a system left over from your Great Society
that did pay money, food stamps, and energy assistance based on the size
of your fa,ily. If it comes down to working for 10 bucks and hour or
getting it all doled out, the option is usually the dole. The other
problem is that there is no work ethic. You get more if you don't work.

From what I've seen personally, that's not really true. But
a lot of people would rather have less money for not
working, than to work & get more. Why is that? I dunno, but
clearly the ratio should be adjusted.

For that matter, the number of co-workers I've seen miling
workmen's comp claims over the years would support the idea
that 1- there's more than one way to milk the system and 2-
a LOT of people, across every ethnicity, have the same
no-work ethic.

Affluence lowers the birth rates. In countries such as Germany and Japan the
birth rates aRE LOW ENOUGH to decrease the population unless there is
immigration. I beleieve it is true for the US but immigration is increasing
the population.

Why is it that our best and brightest breed the least? Pay the most taxes?

How many cans of beans and heads of cabbage do you have to eat to make

With the declining birth rates, if you want a growing economy, you need
immigration.

Uh, because our best and brightest also have better access to health care,
providing a longer life span. That longer life span results in a smaller
proportion of women of child bearing age, hence, a declining birth rate.
It's, in effect, a Ponzi Scheme.

I'm not talking proportion, I'm talking about absolute numbers. Affluent
families have less kids. It doesn't matter how long one lives or about
health care. In fact, good health care would tend to facilitate larger
families, longer lifespans also facilitate more kids as women can children
well into their 40's.

The root of it all is what is the cause of affluence. My opinion is that it
has to do mostly with intelligence. The smarter one is, the greater is the
tendency for them to be affluent. There are exceptions though such as
athletes and Hollywood entertainers. They are affluent but not intelligent
as a general rule.
