Poles are for punts and people fishing in shallow water with small skiffs.

True, but your boat isn't much bigger.

But, you don't see push poles carried on sailboats. So to say sailors should use a pole
when they don't have one is dumb. I *do* have a couple of anchors.....

I have two eight foot oars and several boat hooks, one 12 feet long.
My boat only draws 3 feet. I few weeks ago I posted a picture of a
boat that was sailed thousands of miles without an engine, but using
long sweeps. I'm pretty sure the poled with them on occasion.

I have an extendable dock pole, a whisker pole and two long oars. Use them
all, some for pushing off of the bottom. Bluto is correct.

Dock pole??? Preventer??? The only kind of preventer I know is used to keep the boom from jybing.
It's no use pushing off docks. I'm not familiar with dock poles. Are we talking about the same thing?
Here's a push pole. http://www.stiffypushpoles.com/stiffy.htm And here's a picture of one being used.

Do my arms look strong enough to kedge my Tangerine

18 off a windy dock? http://www.badongo.com/pic/289518
I couldn't be a model. My shoulders and arms aren't thin

enough. There's another picture. 289517
I had some old photos of my boat. They make it look

bad. I'll take somenew ones soon. I want the sails up. Sails
are
white with and blue. Jib and main both. I'll upload them

maybe next week.

Cheers,
Ellen

That's about as silly as most of Capt. JG's ideas! :-)

That certainly doesn't include you.

I've just about had enough of you. A bit more and you're ****-canned.
