And what if I went 10' beam and pulled it home each winter, do you see any problem getting a permit and pulling with my Dodge Ram 2500? Any idea what that permit might cost? (from Chesapeake to Trappe). http://www.russellsmarine.com/precis...-sailboat.html TIA, Scout Nice boat. I've been thinking about a smaller Precision. This may help you with tow capacity. Gives ratings for various engines, transmissions, cab styles, rear end gear ratios. I've been told you better derate them about 20% if you are towing long distances particularly in hills. http://www.trailerlife.com/output.cfm?id=42175 Ratings are for towing capacity only. Also need to consider the Gross Combined Vehicle weight rating, which usually derates the total towing capacity. Thanks Frank. I'd be pulling with a Dodge Ram 2500 with the bigger engine. And I'd only be pulling it 1 round trip per year. Precision is a nice boat; it's a little big boat, if you know what I mean. My Starwind (Taylor design) was a sailing dream, I just need a bigger bunk to sleep in! Scout |
