There are accounts of snipers with customized rifles hitting small targets (like bad guys' heads) at 2200 yards. Now for an even more extreme (and slightly more on-topic) example, the battleship USS Pennsylvania, firing 14"/50 naval rifles, blew a hole in a bunker from 15 miles away, then less than a minute later, put a second round thru the hole. WOW!! The good ol' boys at Dahlgren did some pretty impressive shooting using 16" rifles but nothing like that. |
