Joe,
In reply; How many automobiles did they have in the 1800's. Joe, I found photographs in my office of those barrels you speak of (Wooden,by the way) being loaded on Square Rigged Clipper Ships for England. That was Oil for Drakes first oil well ever. The Atlantic Refining Co was a out-growth of the Schukyull Barrelling Co. They still had the Batch Stills where they would drive the Lamp Oil off the heavy ends before shipping. Out of Service of course. That was the Fore-runner of the Refinery. They progress to Paraffin and finally full distillation and fractionation. I loved that old Refinery. It was like working in a Museum. http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomPage |
