The point is not to "collapse" the economy. The point is to force people to change their driving and car purchase habits. That would do it, according to economists. I think large cities should be proactive on this issue and legislate that unless there is a specific reason for driving a pick up truck or SUV in the city, less than 3 occupants, etc, that those vehicles be disallowed (passing through on the xway not counting). |

Sounds close to right. There's very little reason for the urban assault
vehicles, especially in cities. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "katy" wrote in message ... Capt. JG wrote: The point is not to "collapse" the economy. True, you can get an armored Mini-Cooper now
for $56k. Another option would be to allow citzens to carry arms in cities, per the 2nd Amendment. "Capt. JG" wrote Sounds close to right. If you think people cried "foul" when the Patriot Act was passed, wait until you tell them they can't drive their monster trucks and SUVs into the cities. Max |

But many are fortunate enough to not have to do that. The down side (or plus side depending on how you look at it) of this is that jobs, markets, medical care and entertainment are often far away. It is 15 miles (one way) to my job, 8 to the nearest grocery, and 20+ to major shopping or a MD. That'd be hard to do in winter snow. Moreover, why should we be forced to live cheek to jowl like Europeans just so people of limited intellegence can breed like roaches, having 3, 4 and more kids per couple?? |
