I never was stopped by the USCG, but I was
stopped by the harbor Nazi's. The guy gave me a hard time because my niece was sitting on the bow (bow riding), which is illegal in a powerboat and quite legal in a sailboat doing 3 knots. I challenged him it and he told me he was doing 8 knots--in the main current, while I was in the shallows of a mooring field. He gave me a ticket for having an unregistered boat instead. He had he told me he would not give me a ticket for that however he had to give me a ticket for something, and realized I was correct in that bow riding is legal on a sailboat. "Joe" wrote I don't know about you but I've come into different gulf ports over a 1000 times and have never been stopped by the USCG...Never. Infact, I have never in my life been stopped or boarded by the Coast Guard inshore or offshore. How many here have ever been stopped by the USCG? What did they do? |
