Depends, Max. In days of yore captains would hold some

of their crews pay

while they went ashore, so that when they got back to

the ship they

wouldn't be broke.

(Good point, John.)

Never mind, Mooron. Go for the big refund.

Some people are not smart enough to save their own money.
So, I guess for them a big refund is a good thing.

Mr. Crantz had an even better idea--the gummint could just keep each year's
refund until retirement age. Then folks like Mooron could have one hell of
a big refund then. Interest-free, of course. And if the gummint would
consider "retirement age" to be, oh, say, um, 94 . . .

Max

Except for the 94 business, that isn't really a bad idea....

A supremely brilliant man, Goldwater. None, sadly, have come close since.

Um, I don't believe she and her yuppie husband owned any hogs. They did,
however, have access to carnivorous fish.

Do you know Goldwater also said:

"I haven't really got a first class brain"

His brilliance was that he relied on principles to guide him and was
remarkably consistent in applying them, especially in the world of politics.
Reagan, too, was guided by principles, also lacking "a first class brain".

Men with first class brains, such as Bill Clinton, John Kerry and Hillary
Clinton are completely devoid of consistent principles and lack the tools
necessary for true leadership. They rely on cunning to get them to the next
step.

Goldwater was the greatest. I have two autographed photos of him here at my
desk as well as other memorabilia. I even have a "Goldwater for President"
bumper sticker on my truck.

I wish another one like him would come along.

Upon receiving a can of "Goldwater" from an ardent supporter, he tasted it
and said:

"This tastes like ****. I wouldn't drink it with gin!"

Only once in several lifetimes...

Amen!

I had a "Goldwater for Halloween" bumper sticker. Did you know he had a
Jag XKE
customised by George Barris? Made to look like a jet fighter cockpit with
an
engine turned dashboard filled with tons of gauges, toggle switches, and
lights.
