![]() "Joe" wrote in message oups.com... Listen Chicken man, I have a steel hull buildt for ice. I would carry all we need, no need for outside logistical support. What makes you think I can not navigate the area. I ran rivers thru swamps that would leave you crying in the mud and dying from mosquito bites. I'm sure the boats you see abandoned in the artic are mostly french and Canook. I would love to fish along the edge of the Artic. I would expect cold and lots of ice, crystal clear blue water, clear skies and yellow fin tuna in the 6-7 hundred pound range. And really cold drinks. I would expect people to leave me alone and allow me to explore the area at will. Not have some pushy Canooks telling me they own the ice. First off..... Yellow Fin Tuna in the Arctic!!!!!????? Bwahahahahahahahahahaaa! Typical Ignorant Yank..... no idea what the hell you're going to get yourself into and no clue it's well beyond your abilities. Here's an idea.... go to your local chinaman and ask if you can sit in his walk-in freezer for 12 hrs. It should be about -10c which is the average temperature on the water in the summer. The water is exceptionally clear.... but will freeze you in an instant. You'd better look at the distances involved and the community dispersion. You'd best take a liking to seal meat. Compasses don't work for **** up there. No radio contact.... no help... no daily weather forecast... no routing.... channels close in minutes and ice packs can wedge your vessel in for a long long time. You won't see more than a couple of Inuit or an occasional Canadian Coast Guard vessel. You can explore all you want... as long as you have permits from the Inuit to fish and walk on their land. That'll cost you a purse full of cash. Good news is you won't need your running lights ..since it's 24 hr daylight. Your metal boat will act as a heat sink and dissapate any warmth your furnace can generate. Your vessel will ice up and become top heavy. You''ll end up a defeated, crushed shell of a man before you hit Kugluktuk, never mind Goa Haven. Your boat will adorn the coast of some community ... just like all the others from the USA. Seriously Joe..... you don't even know enough about the area to make it dangerous... it's suicidal for you at this stage. Give it up... Americans have no business in a Man's World like the Arctic....... stay at home where Bush will keep you safe with Yellow & Orange alert status indicators. CM The Med would be a fine cruise I'm sure. Greece has some great ruins and secluded anchorages. Lots of nice diving ect.. Joe |
