Took the LaBrisa out for lunch today, 15kt SW slight chop crystal clear
skies 69 degrees.

What about using a bubbler system?

Long Island does not freeze that hard, especially the Sound.

I don't sail in a harbor, Joe. The LIS has been known to freeze and
last season the entire dock area was solid. Few folks risk it.

I used to walk around on parts of the Sound, especially in Rowayton, as a
kid.

lot of marinas are on rivers that freeze as well. A bubbler will prevent
damage
at the dock, but has nothing to do with whether or not you can get down a
channel, and out to the rest of the Sound.

Use long bubbler lines.

I have no idea why you think that ice that isn't
"that hard" would not be an impediment to sailing.

Reread what I said. The LIS does not freeze that hard. In fact, the Coast
Guard uses 65 foot icebreakers that are limited to 12 inches of ice.
Remember these 65 footers go up canals where the big breakers can't.

The frost line on Long Island is 18 inches!

LOL! Katy, Mr. Sails, and Chopper, the white standard poodle, are quite
genuine, and have sailed with us on our boat. Well, okay, Chopper didn't,
even though he was invited. They've also slipped on our dock for many
seasons, save the last one or two, when they moved to a different port. Now
they've moved to a place I plan to live someday, and no doubt we'll spend
time with all three of them again.

Neal isn't original enough to create a sockpuppet as unique at Katy.

By the way, Katy, we just bought another poodle--a 12 week old black toy.
Had to drive to Minnesota to get her.
