Hello to all
Hey all;
I just set up newsgroups on my computer, and I am happy to find knowledgeable and helpful folks to ask when I have questions. I bought an old 34' Cal last year. My first boat. I managed to not crash or break it during the first summer of use, but it was mostly luck. Anyway, a suggestion: some threads are long and hard to follow because people leave the original message in the reply. If they turned this off in their options, send section, the reading would be easier. Just a thought, and there may be some reason that people leave it on, and I am not smart enough to figure it out! Our web site: http://mysite.verizon.net/respb65u/ |
Hello to all

Hello to all
My son sailed a college regatta at Northwestern last year. Flat nor warm
were not words used much in our conversation! JB |

You found helpful people in THIS group, no way. I rarely see anything
here except personality conflicts. There is rarely anything about sailing here. You must mean rec.boats.cruising. |

JB We watched a regatta on Lake M. a few years ago, just off Chicago. I assumed at the time that at least one of the schools participating was Northwestern. The waves were typical 4-6' closely-spaced chop, and the northwesterly was a chilly 45 deg. F at about 18kts. The FJs would disappear behind the waves making it almost impossible to count the number of boats on the course at any given time. We watched the kids come in from the final race. It is an understatement to say they looked unhappy. Max |

You simply refuse to see the silver lining in the sow's ear don't you.....
if everyone doesn't just jump up and pat you on the head you get all whiny. Try asking a few questions related to sailing and quit formulating your replies to the opposite of what Bobsprit has to say.... everyone here knows he is clueless about sailing. Hello to all
Been there, too. I usually see questions asked, with one or t2o straight
answers before the conversation deteriorates into a ****ing contest about how many angels can dance on the mastheads of the individuals' favorite boats. There is actually the occasional friendly, helpful response. Hard to believe, innit? |

A sea, like Lake Michigan, can have closely-spaced waves, making the motion aboard a boat less than gentle. Of course some of those seas in Europe may even have such waves as well, but who knows for sure. No one in Europe ever goes sailing outside the rivers and Lake Geneva. Max |

My first boat. I managed to not crash or break it during the first summer of use, but it was mostly luck. That's a cool boat. A friend of mine had one back when they were new hot racer-cruisers, we sailed it a lot. Anyway, a suggestion: some threads are long and hard to follow because people leave the original message in the reply. If they turned this off in their options, send section, the reading would be easier. Only if you have the whole thread, and follow it in linear fashion... not so easy on usenet. I quote sections of previous message that I'm replying to, so you can tell what I'm talking about. OTOH to quote several long previous messages and adding "me too" or maybe the ever-popular "what he said" at the bottom is kind of annoying. wrote: You found helpful people in THIS group, no way.
