Until Thomas is older and our new home is ready...24 months or so from

Yeah....watched King Kong last night. Amazingly, the onkyo system did
okay, but I can tell it's a bit harsh on some types of music. The suib
is probably half as powerful as my old one, but this is a matched
system and it's actually more seamless than my assembled setup. Sounds
better than any Bose system, but then Bose is all boom and tweeter to
impress the buyers at Circuit City. The Onkyo has some reasonable
midrange, but it's an up front image much of the time. Still, if you
want good layered midrange, you have to pay big bucks.
King Kong would be a much better film if it was 30 minutes shorter. The
story, which the audience already knows well, moves forward like
Scotty's boat, slow and ponderous. ** 1/2

Are the phase transitions of the crossovers continuous and first order
monotonic?

Do the sidelobe levels of the speakers decrease with aperture efficiency?

Do the speakers have high single mode efficiency for the entire bandwidth?

Have you measured the Dirac response of the system end to end?

It's not true by itself! In addition, the power supply frequency response
should be at least five times that of the audio chain. That's very difficult
with low voltage supplies. In fact, in a real audio system the power supply
costs twice as much as the audio chain.

Can your audio power supply go from 0 to 500 watts peak in 50 usec with no
overshoot, undershoot or ringing?

The impulse response of the system. This can show phase and transient
distortions.

At the moment I'm trying to cut side-wall reflection for the upper

Sometimes adjusting the separation of the speakers can reduce this,
especially if the reflection is due to a sidelobe of the speaker. The other
speaker,in essence, becomes a parasitic radiator that cancels sidelobes. You
can also try a third radiator that is isotropic and has reduced radiation to
reduce the reflection. You'll have to move it around to find the sweet spot.
Foam at the aperture may not work as well as a wall hanging. Is the foam in
the near field of the speaker?


So how many monthly payments of $49.95 do you have to make for this new
"audio system" of yours?
