Hmmm.. that's not been my experience. I mostly find Canadians to be a
heck of a lot nicer.

Would those be from the Canadian section of San Francisco?

I didn't realize there was such a section. I'll have to check it out
next time I'm in the city.

Giving bad directions have nothing to do with breeding or
intelligence.

Inbreeding, perhaps, and it certainly has something to do with being
observant. Or maybe Canadians just don't get around much.

Nah, I've gotten terrible directions from PhDs. And, I've gotten great
directions from near illiterates.

Great example of the latter... A friend was trying to give me
directions to his cabin in the woods near Tahoe. The basic highway and
major roads stuff was easy, but since it was winter time, none of the
house numbers were visible. His directions included the line, "When
you see a house that looks like it needs a fence, make a right." So,
my then girlfriend and I were driving along, and we see this house
that looks like it needs a fence. We make the right. The next set of
directions say that the house we're supposed to be at has a sign in
the front, but the sign is too small for the house. We discover that
there are a dozen real estate signs on the street. So, we keep
going. Eventually, we see a house with a very tiny sign in front. We
pulled into the driveway. No one was home, and he had told us to climb
in one of the windows, because he might be late and didn't have a key
(don't ask). So, we find an open window, climb in and wait. Sure
enough, my friend shows up in about an hour.

Of course, you have to realize we were all in our early 20s. :-)

This rant is soooo American. You're right, we all love you.

If they could only do the "arrogance" and "indignation" with some self
confidence it would be much more palatable! :-)

Perhaps you Cannucks would care to give us lessons.

Shure thing Max..... we can do it with confidence because we have a sense
of humour! :-)

You'd have to, to live in Canada. Don't fret, Mooron--if you don't tell
anyone you're Canadian, they'll just think you're an American.

I know.... it's weird... so many posters think I'm an American! I
consider that a compliment! :-)

As well you should. There's really no shame in being Canadian . . . . well,
not much anyway. g

IIRC, it's called the Tenderloin. g

A lot of both. And, both groups are bums.

I've had people give directions saying, ''turn left 3 blocks
BEFORE you come to the 7-11''. Sheesh!

Oh gosh no... there are way more benefits in being a Canadian... you see
Americans all over the planet disguising where they come from by wearing
Canadian "Flags of Convenience".... That's why I find it so "cute" to see
you guys get all patriotic when you are safely back home! :-)

No sweat Buddy.... everytime I'm visiting another country and get
belligerently drunk & verbally abusive to the locals... I make certain to
use an American drawl and praise the American virtues. I'm doin' my part to
maintain your global reputation! :-)

LOL. We were flying our tiny Canadian courtesy flag from the spreader
halyard in the North Channel this summer, and when we docked at a tiny
marina/town a shopkeeper in a general store asked if we'd care to buy a
bigger flag to fly from the roach of the main as if we were Canadian. I
asked why and she said, "I was just kidding, but you'd best duck if you hear
shots." I laughed and thanked her for the "warning." Every Canadian boat
we encountered had friendly folks, and we never heard any anti-US types
anywhere.
