Loco gets busted again...
"Jeff" wrote in message ... You sound more like a marketing brochure than an experienced cruiser. You have one berth, that because its measured diagonally, is 7 feet on one side. And you can't roll over without whacking the overhead. Are you claiming that the V counts as a 7 footer? You brag about A/C without considering that it has terrible ventilation. A tiny galley, a small fridge behind the stove. No counter space at all, unless you cover the sink. The head isn't small, but it doesn't have a shower. My old 30 footer even had a separate shower. BTW, is there any ventilation in the head? But that's OK, Bob. Since you never actually cruise, you'll never miss these things. It pretty obvious every time you brag about the A/C that what you really wanted was a nice place at the dock to hang out and watch the real sailors. Nah, he doesn't want to watch the sailors, it's too painful. He wants to impress the lubbers that have just slightly less experience than he does. John Cairns Capt. Rob wrote: Much like claiming the bendy is "comfortable for cruising" or "richly appointed" is a blunder. 5 inch mattresses, 7 foot bunks, more than 6'4 headroom, air conditioning & heat, spacious saloon, largest head on any boat under 40 feet, fridge, ice-maker, sit down nav station, well lit cabin with natural light from overhead portlight design, hideaway retractable curtain shades, tons of storage, floor runway lights in saloon and at companionway, electric head, LCD screens in main cabin and aft cabin, 3 zone stereo system (Saloon, aft cabin and cockpit controls, 2 station autopilot, Aft doors all curved, swim platform with hideaway ladder to make Loco happy! (largest platform in a 35 footer), great cockpit, clean decks..... The interior of the 35s5 blows away just about anything in it's range. We looked at everything from new Sabres to C&Cs to Beneteau Oceanus and First boats produced now. Beamy cruisers may offer more volume but most still fall short in areas like headroom and sleeping spaces. The boat is richly appointed even compared to the new Tayana DS 48 I sail. Which begs the question, why are you such an asshole on this NG? I talked to someone who's met you, they said you're a decent fellow in person. That's hard to believe the way you act around here. My wife thinks you're psychotic. Is she right? Scotty Usenet brings out the worst in folks, Scoot. Nice guys get ignored, assholes garner mucho attention. Trolls (such as Bubbles) tend to gather responders like flies to roadkill. Trolls who are assholes are simply irresistible to most Usenet subscribers. Like it or not, Bubbles would be just another nonentity if he were a decent sort. Max |

Quite a bit of truth in that, John. The nicest, most expensive boats in our marina aren't owned by *sailors*, rather by those who consistently invite lubbers to join them for a weekend of lounging, burning dead animals on the grill, drinking, soaking up sun, and on rare occasions a brief daysail. They won't untie the boat unless the wind is less than 10kts. and the sun is shining in a cloudless sky. The real sailors typically own lesser craft, but use them faithfully and frequently. They relish 20kts. and often are accompanied by other *real* sailors. I've also noted that once one acquires a boat with AC, they don't even spend much time on the dock. Don't even get me started on cable TV. Max |

in our marina aren't owned by *sailors*, rather by those who consistently invite lubbers to join them for a weekend of lounging That's sad. The nicest boats by us sail often. But if someone wants to lounge and that makes them happy, I say good for them! It's their boat, money and time. Maybe you should worry about your own boat when you get one! Those folks bought the wrong boat. They should have admitted to themselves they are not sailors and bought a trawler instead - like DSK did. As a general rule, I have noted, over the years, that as the sailboat gets larger the use of it for sailing gets smaller. Many Americans need to reconsider their idea of "the bigger the better" and opt for a sailboat of a sensible size for their abilities. The same goes for their homes - Americans live in houses that are becoming obscene with respect to square footage of floor space. These displays of greed gobble up resources the likes of which the world has never seen before. Far better to live in a boat or a single-wide (or double-wide like you do, Scotty), than a huge house that discomforts the owner and hogs resources badly needed by the burgeoning population of more sensible folks.
