Let's face facts, boats often have dark interiors and cheap small
portlights. Designers have tried to solve the problem with some success. Witness three designs that have very bright interiors in the light of day due to the overhead L-shaped ports. http://northshore.shore.net/~jpo/swa...n36-anchor.jpg http://www.boatshow.com/IMAGES/SAILBOATS/grz005aT1.jpg http://www.comunidaddebarcos.com//fo...o3%20aitxe.JPG I've been aboard all three and the light below is much better than conventional designs. Sure, you have to adjust for the look. The Feeling 326 is the oddest, but has the brightest interior of all. This is a huge advantage for the coastal sailor/cruiser. Downside: The ports are pricey to replace! Robert B First 35s5 NY |

Are these ports able to open?
What are they made of? Lexan? One of my next projects will be a galley skylight addition. joe |

Are these ports able to open?
What are they made of? Lexan? One of my next projects will be a galley skylight addition. The aft of the three main ports has an opening lewmar set into it on each side. Forward of the three main ports are two smaller opening units. There is also two opening ports for the aft cabin. It's pretty good ventalation without opening any of the three deck hatches. The lighting is great with the teak interior. The aft cabin is also ducted for the AC, but not the V. When I was aboard only the main cabin AC duct was open, the hatches were open and it fricking freezing inside. 19'000 may be too much for a 35 footer. Go for the skylight. It really opens up the interior. RB |

Nutsy,
You know that you've just about check off all the things available with a Pilothouse. Now if you could gain the ability of an inside helm, you're boat just might be comparable. Ole Thom http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomsPage http://community.webtv.net/tassail/Pneuma |

The problem is that most are too slow and virtually powerboats here on the LIS. I wanted a boat that would be light air capable and fun to sail. In that respect your boat can't measure up at all. Glad to hear you have AC though. When you're in the slip, working on this or that, it's a healthy thing to have. I didn't know your boat had a swim platform and aft cabin...cool! RB |
