Renting before buying is absolutely the best way to figure out if you want
to buy a particular model, and it gives you an excellent vehicle to discover in general what you like or dislike about certain "features." Gives you some variety too. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Scout" wrote in message ... I know it's futile to seek consensus as to a make of boat. But, I'm seriously considering renting for a variety of designs before buying. Has anyone else rented a sailboat. Pros and cons? Good locations around the Chesapeake? As I get older I'm beginning to appreciate the philosophy that everything is
life is borrowed, rented, and essentially, not really mine. So it might just be a question of which is less expensive, to rent and leave all the work to others, or buy and have the short term satisfaction of being the lord of a tiny domain. You could always find somebody who wants to share...problematical if you
don't get along, but worthwhile if you balance each other out on costs and usage, etc. "Scout" wrote in message ... talking to a friend about buying his boat. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Scout" wrote in message ... Not taking advantage of him... he's probably going to be taking advantage of
me. It's an older Pearson 30 that he set up very nicely for single handing. He's very, very slowly doing some minor work on it. He really shouldn't be out by himself any more... getting old, has a bad heart, etc. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Scotty" wrote in message news ![]() You going to take advantage of your dumb friend? Gee Jon,
I hope no jerk like you is around when I get old! Maybe sailing and fresh air is what his old heart needs! And just Who are you to judge when someone should give up sailing? You suck! Joe |

Joe,
You have anger management problems. Maybe sailing and fresh are is what his old heart needs, but he is getting too old to do it himself. So, suddenly, you're his cardiologist? Give me a break. He and his cardiologist have decided that it's not a good idea, especially after 3 recent heart attacks. Get a life Joe. You obviously don't have one, since all you're capable of doing is flapping your gums. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Joe" wrote in message oups.com... Should "old people" be kept on a leash? Should he be confined to his home in case he smells of "wee"? Maybe you think that he is too old to decide if it is safe to sail???? Or perhaps you think that old people should only be allowed to sail after a younger person has carried out a risk assessment!!!! Thank God that I don't live in California! Regards Donal -- |

Yes, but....
"He and his cardiologist have decided that it's not a good idea, especially after 3 recent heart attacks." from a previous response. We thank the gods every day that you don't live here.
