"Dave" wrote in message No question about that. I haven't run Win 9x at work since NT4 came out and run XP Pro at work. OTOH, I ran Win 98 at home until just recently. Why? Because it was working on that machine without glitches, and was perfectly adequate for what I was doing at home. (Actually, I could boot into either Win 98 or NT4 on that machine, but the wife was more comfortable with 98.) It's a question of what system suits one's needs. Not really... it's a question of reliabilty. One glitch can cost you inordinate amount of work and the possibilty of lost dick cluster. Win 95 was supassed by Win 98... and now XP. Waoit till Windows Longhorn arrives next year! Just the point. If the present setup is satisfactory, no need to spend the extra money. A computer is much like a boat in regards to upkeep and upgrades. If you're running only a few programs, and they aren't very memory-intensive, that's prolly suitable. OTOH if you were running voice recognition and a bunch of other programs you'd want much more. At work I generally have 10 or 11 programs open, most with multiple windows, and run a 2.8 ghz Pentium 4 with 1 gig of RAM. My laptop runs AutoCAD, Graphics Programs, Multimedia apps and must perform when required. 256 megs of ram is cheap nowadays. OEM XP OS is also very cheap. I built my own computer. Researched the architecture, compatibility and purchased the components then assembled it. I upgrade select components.almost every six months. CM |

Huh? What does the manual instructions for a keyboard have to do with
playing? And no, at this point, I probably don't play any better than anyone...the bones in the ring finger, little finger and the palm of my left hand are fused in places from my hand being smashed against a brick wall by a recalcitrant foal...the physical therapy never restored flexibility...also one of the reasons why so much katytype...some days they just don't want to work at all...once upon a time, though, I did play well...not brilliantly, but pleasantly.. "Donal" wrote in message ... "katysails" wrote in message ... Yeah..the manual to my Yamaha keyboard is a translation from the Japanese version....explanations look all right until you start to apply them, then you realize that syntax the sentences is wrong and some of the directions are backwards... Heh ... you can't play any better than me!!!! Thanks for cheering me up. Regards Donal -- |

Dave makes some good points. My old 1998 Dell (Pent.2) is good
