Tartan is much better . . . After sailing a Coronado 27 you'll never be satisfied
with a Beneteau.

Go with the Tartan.

Annual LURKER Check-In !!!

For those of you lurking out there. This is the
annual Lurker Check-in.

Lurkers are those that read posts but do not post
responses or start threads.

You don't have to post anything intelligent, just
your handle and location, include boat name,
type and model, if you have one.

This is your big chance to get easy points.

If you don't check in, nothing bad will happen to you,
you will just remain POINTLESS!

1 point award per fact you provide.

Those of you that have posted and do not have any
points at all, or you are not sure if you have any points,
you can check in now for free alt.sailing.asa newgroups
points.

As in ordering a new one? Have you considered a Sabre instead?

BTW thanks for checking in. It helps remind us regulars that no matter
bizarre & unlikely it seems, there is an actual real world out there!

They are two *totally* different boats.

I suspect that you haven't fully thought out your priorities.

Are you more interested in dockside comfort (Tartan), or performance afloat
(Beneteau)?

???

I've sailed a Tartan 4100... they are pretty zippy. Definitely on par
with one of the First series of similar size.

Which would you say has the better build quality?

Tartan, definitely. Some of the older, bigger (40+) Beneteau First
series were pretty well built, but don't have systems up to modern
standards. The newer Tartans are molded by TPI and are well up to
snuff... there is a fair amount of stuff I don't like about them, but
then I'm spoiled...

I'd happily admit that the Tartan has a better "build quality". However,
I'd kill myself if a Tartan beat me in a race.

9 points for Dave

I would have given you 10 except you misspelled Bent-i-toad

Ok. I'm:

Frank Maier from Everett, WA, a bit north of Seattle and a bit south of
Ole Thom. I post occasionally; but I mostly lurk.

No sailboat at present. Former owner of various keelboats and planning
to buy something around 40 feet in the next couple of years for family
cruising/homeschooling around the Caribbean. Retired in 95. Two kids,
currently 10 and 12.
