HEY watch yer mouth. I said I love to have it, not dumb enough to buy
it or any trawler. Only an all around, all weather, steady reliable
vessel suits my needs. That is why a Motor Sailing Vessel is far
superior to all others, including your blue water vessel.

Motorsail vessels are a combination that brings out the worst of
both motor and sail. Either get a pure sailing vessel like Cut the
Mustard or get a trawler. Any sailboat with a big diesel and a
fixed, three-blade prop is a slowcoach and a poor compromise.

That being said, once one admits his motorsailer is not a real
sailboat one can then take advantage of the virtues of a motor
boat and suffer the degradation to a real sailboat such virtues
cause.

Actually I like the west coast of Florida. When their aren't any hurricanes
ripping through, of course.

Why do you think it brings out the worst in both motor and sail?

I believe it brings out the best of both.

Nothing wrong with a rock steady 8kt on any point of the compass. Most
times the main is just above idle and you can not hear. If the wind is
above 15 knots than I can make hull speed without main assist.

I know the alure of pure sail and the benifits of no prop drag. But
due to my current career and the high cost off communications I do not
have the luxary of unscheduled trips.

Heh.

They were testing that thing on the Haringvliet, some water I pass
every day from/to work. The goal was to break the speed record. Too
bad one of the engines leaked oil, so they had to cancel the
attempt...

Cheers!

Priorities, priorities! A vessel without a shower that sails well is
preferable to a vessel with a shower that sails poorly but motors
well while making hot water.
