Heh.

They were testing that thing on the Haringvliet, some water I pass
every day from/to work. The goal was to break the speed record. Too
bad one of the engines leaked oil, so they had to cancel the
attempt...

Cheers!

HEY watch yer mouth. I said I love to have it, not dumb enough to buy
it or any trawler. Only an all around, all weather, steady reliable
vessel suits my needs. That is why a Motor Sailing Vessel is far
superior to all others, including your blue water vessel.

I agree, but the only power boats I like are tugs. I like them because
they're working boats. Ones like this would be fine for the time it takes to
resell it.

Motorsail vessels are a combination that brings out the worst of
both motor and sail. Either get a pure sailing vessel like Cut the
Mustard or get a trawler. Any sailboat with a big diesel and a
fixed, three-blade prop is a slowcoach and a poor compromise.

That being said, once one admits his motorsailer is not a real
sailboat one can then take advantage of the virtues of a motor
boat and suffer the degradation to a real sailboat such virtues
cause.

Suck fuel, that is. About 150 gallons an hour.

I have to disagree with you slightly. Powerboats don't suck. But sometimes
powerboaters suck. They figure if they have a drivers license, then they
know how to operate a boat. On average a sailboater knows more about boat
handling and seamanship than the average powerboater.

My favorite cruising ground can best be accessed by powerboat. Although I
have cruised it with a sailboat (Catalina 320) I have charted large
powerboats the past two times. I like powerboats, too. The size and
comfort are nice. The noise while underway is annoying.

Actually I like the west coast of Florida. When their aren't any hurricanes
ripping through, of course.
