"Bobsprit" wrote in message No it's not. You are beyond ignorant and actually pretty dumb. A breast pump is also for: Also for... so what I said initially is indeed correct and you are trying to add additional crap to the mix? 1) Maintaining breast milk feeding when mother has soreness or fatigue. Quit hogging her other tit then..... sheesh! 2) Training baby to take bottle when mother is not available. Initiated by the mother. Oh Please... what a load of crap that is.....!!! The second item is MOST important. Doesn't work for all babies. Some resist the bottle. But Thomas has learned he will get breast milk either way, which means Suzanne was able to attend a meeting at the Hospital last night and Thomas was fine. You're trying to talk like you raised six kids already and acting like a dufus first timer! Mooron, you've really made an ass of yourself again. We're still waiting on how to cut red eye from a camera with built in flash! You're supposed to be the Pro Bobby.... ! CM |

Good Grief... it's becoming apparent I have way more "knowledge" about this than the collection of side step dances you've been presenting as 'answers'.... You're lost aren't you Bob.... fess up! Now you will all please shut up since none of you have actual experience in
this process whereas I nursed 3 children. Bob's reasons are bunkum. A breast fed baby, when offered a bottle by his/her mother, will generally reject the bottle because the real thing is present. Water can be offered to a baby in a bottle by some other person and there will be some success. The nursery nurses usually attempt to get breast fed babies to take water in the hospital, especially if there's a chance of a high bili count...Pumping is not a pleasurable experince whereas breastfeeding is...pump[ing can be quite painful. Hand expressing is much better, even though the yield is less. I was fortunate that when i was having my children, a friend in my neighborhood was also having children and we both breastfed. If there was some reason one of us had to be away, we would take the other's baby. No need to pump. It's just as easy to nurse two as it is one. You just have to be careful to replenish enough calories in your system. $400 breast pumps. What a joke. Mankind has existed for how long without mechanical devises to extract bodily fluids? He probably loves his Orick, too. |

You just have
to be careful to replenish enough calories in your system. $400 breast pumps. What a joke. Mankind has existed for how long without mechanical devises to extract bodily fluids? He probably loves his Orick, too. What a shockingly ignorant post. Truly. You will find no professional in the world to agree with this. Pumping milk with hand pumps or suction pumps is standard practice. Aclimation to bottle feeding of breast milk is SOP if the mother won't be around 100% of the time. Thomas gets 1 bottle a day to keep him used to it. Of course we got this info from every book on the subject and 3 doctors, but Katy must know best! Poor Katy. Realize that Suzanne is no housewife. After two years of nursing she'll probably become a nurse practitioner and open her own practice. Some women have careers. RB |
