Real Boat Question

Anyone here familiar with the C&C 37 and C&C 40 from the mid 80s. They are both
on the C&C hit list as boats that scored. I see the prices are quite close.
Anyone sail either and have some feedback. I already spoke to owners...looking
for additional info.

Sailed both out here, although not in a couple of years. I believe
they were early 80s boats. Very solidly built. Took being trashed by
the local charterers pretty well. They were quite stiff and seakindly.

I thought you already had a locked up deal on a 34+? Did that one fall through?
It sounded pretty good.

The deal on the 34+ is still pending, but the owner is now thinking he wants to
hold on to her for two more seasons. I'll wait one more season with Alien, but
after that we want a bigger boat. The 37 and 40 seem like good fun boats that
will do well for us. The 40 may be a bit too much boat while the 37 seems like
a more comfortable faster version of the 32. We're just lining up the options
for now, but Alien will be sold next summer for sure.
I'm open to suggestions, but the boat must have bunks for my height.

They're both notorious for the C&C "smile"....their keels separate from the
hull.....but they are fast and sail well....

Hey Nutsy,

Weren't you supposed to be taking possession of a larger C&C this Fall?
I thought that deal was signed and sealed? What happened to the Two boat
ownership you were spouting off about?

Tell me a story,-tell me the story?

Well, I've sailed a bunch of C&Cs of that era... all different sizes
and I've never see that happen or heard of it. I suppose it's
possible.

It's quite common, but usually just cosmetic. It's not limited to

just C&C's
either. Catalina owners, for one example, call it the Catalina

Smile.

Seidelmanns don't have that problem.

Our new boat will probably send Scotty and Loco off a roof together, arm n'
arm!
Alien is better boat anyway, but this vessel will just drive them NUTS!
I can't wait!

For BB
Current choices: C&C 35 mid 80's, C&C 40 and 37 mid 80's. We've checked out the
40 as well as the aft cabin version (hard to find), but the 35 as bunks near 7
feet and the 37 may be a solid choice down the middle. I see all have really
good performance and many have been nicely refurbished. The 34/36+ is still in
the works, but I don't think we want to be on the 32 for two more seasons.
