I replaced the main halyard today. Taped
the new to the old, Boy was I nervous till it went all the way
through.

Next time sew them together, then tape them. It doesn't take a lot of thread
and you can't pull them apart. I told a guy next to me at my old marina this
one day when he was about to run a new halyard and he told me that he had done
it before and that sewing wasn't necessary. About a half hour later I heard
the guy cussing at the top of his lungs. The ropes parted inside the mast. It
only takes one little hang up.
