You have to wonder what Steve the Racist's point is here. I knew they had been
raced in the past, then found they still are. Like I said, WOW!
Steve, you rarely post here because you're almost as dumb as Loco & Scotty
Potti and get exposed nearly every time!

The Fisher 37 rates 300? Wow, that's not bad, that's about half what I'd
have guessed

I wonder if it will actually sail to that rating, and if it includes any
sailing to windward?

Doug, you're really an idiot. I've sailed the 37 and it will go to windward if
it's blowing above 12-13 knots. Not terribly high, but windward it is.
Sail a boat, then comment, moron.

PHRF-New England gives a base rating for a Fisher Island FR as 129. The
PHRF-NE rating Fisher Island MH as 111. Are these the same as the Fisher 37
that you reference?
A Cabot 36 gets a base rating of 186.

Again, don't get involved in any discussions involving racing, you are
obviously clueless, as evidenced by your "class B" remark a while back.

Hey, dummy. That was loco.

RB

No that was you claiming it came from Loco. Show us a google reference. I
thought so. And besides, the only person you could run that bs by would be a
non-racer. Anyone that's been racing for any real period of time would KNOW
that no racer would ever make a statement like that.

An "estimate" is NOT a true rating.

You must be a demoncrat. You're grasping at straws.

A true PHRF rating is given for your area. The estimate generated by the
fornula exists as a starting point. Not all boats have a PHRF rating. I
doubt
there's one anywhere for a Fisher 37. And there are many one-off cruisers
that
have no rating.
PERIOD.

RB

Bob, I crew with one of the phrf measurers on the west end of Lake Erie-the
owner of the boat I race on. If I decide I want to fork over some money to
do a race next weekend, I need to have a rating, correct? Now they don't
have time to look at my boat and give me a rating certificate, where do you
think they come up with my rating? Thin air? They're going to look at the
various phrf websites around the country and give me a rating about the same
as everyone elses. The "starting point" you're referring to is called a base
handicap, and if you haven't modified you boat to make it faster or slower,
the figure derived from the formula IS the rating. So again, every boat has
a rating, you just need enough intelligence to do the math. Yeah, even for
those one-off cruisers. Keep trying.
