The Political Debate
The political "debate" here is so funny!
Should one crack the egg on the large end or the small end? Paper or plastic? Communism or socialism? You can bet that no matter who wins the end result will be less freedom and bigger government. In fact not one of you can name a single President that has ever reduced the scope of government or extended freedom. But yet you argue so loudly for your slightly different forms of enslavement! I'm for any candidate who promises: " I have no interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is needed before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents interests, I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can." Vote Libertarian! Leave the big party-franchise politics to those who are too cowardly to live or think for themselves. Gilligan |

Anyone with an iota of reason knows that the question, "What would Jesus do" is a fallacy of logic known as an appeal to authority. It is used to avoid personal responsibility and abdicate volition. It's odd that those who use Jesus are the biggest advocates of conformism and big government. It was Jesus who defied the government of his day, it was Jesus who disrupted the marketplace. Jesus was a radical. If the depictions are true, he also had long hair, slept in city parks. If he was around today he'd be the guy cleaning your windshield at the traffic light. Amen! Jesus was a Jew in the Holy Land.
He never entered a Christian Church, He taught his disciples to teach the Jewish Faith. He was born a Jew, Lived a Jew, and died a Jew. I don't think he was a registerd Republican or a Democrat. He wasn't a sailor. So let's excuse him from this discussion Ole Thom |
