OK Salty, to stamp Scotts statement as a serious lie,
In only said it was a "lie" which it was. RB |
Here ya go, Tom.
http://www.r-p-r.co.uk/beaufort.htm Scotty claimed Force 6 sustained which would have meant larger gusts. Never happened, except very briefly. NOT sustained. Scotty MIGHT have seen force 4. Maybe. RB |
Yeah Nutsy,
Sure looks like you are both talking about Beaufort 5 (18 to 24) on my Dwyer Wind Scale. Now, if you are using Sea condition to sail by, Tell me how you can tell the difference of a Force 6 white cap with a Force 5 white cap within 3 to 4 knots without a lie as you call it? AND; This whole post begs to question the ability of the vessels to handle these condition or the ability of the sailors on the helm. Siedlemann over C&C or Nutsy over Potti? Damn, Wish the new Harkens Furler would get here so I can sail rather than troll :^) Ole Thom |
Tell
me how you can tell the difference of a Force 6 white cap with a Force 5 white cap within 3 to 4 knots without a lie as you call it? Tom, you miss the point. If Scotty didn't know the real windspeed, why guess? He didn't estimate or backpedal until he was caught, then he claimed he had no instruments. Still worse, I know how differently my boat behaves in 25 knots vs. 18. I guess you're also saying that Scotty doesn't. And that wouldn't surprise me at all. RB |
Damn, Wish the new Harkens Furler would get here so I can sail rather
than troll :^) Cheer up. Suzanne and I went to the club today, but she's still pretty weak. It'll be a few more days before we can sail. Thomas seemed to enjoy the fresh air all the same and the owner of the club bought him some nice clothes. I hope to go for a sail on Monday. RB |
This whole post begs to question the ability of the vessels to
handle these condition or the ability of the sailors on the helm. Siedlemann over C&C or Nutsy over Potti? As I pointed out, I can certainly ID 25 knots over 18. And even Potti's crappy Siedlemann can handle 25 knots. RB |
wrote in message ... Most of us believe that you have a little one, though! A very little one. Bill is short for Willy!! dammit, I'm good Regards Donal -- |

In Scotty's case, estimating 25 when it was 18 to 22 with gusts to 25 isn't too bad. Thanks Jeff, I know you and the rest of the sailors here realize that , without wind instruments, we will generally err on the plus side of wind strength. Even though Ponys' graph showed that I was damn close, I see no need to justify myself to a non-sailor like bob. Anyway, the point was that it was windy, and I had a great sail. Scotty |
You think Hunters are better than Benetoes?

You think Hunters are better than Benetoes?
Over the last few years Hunter has done much to improve fit and finish. Compare and see, the Hunters are now clearly better than the Beneteaus in quality. RB |
