Shameful, but not nearly as bad as the Vice President of the United
States telling a senior Senator to f*ck himself.

Here's the context of the Cheney message. I think that this might be a
little
bit different, given the context.

CNN is reporting that on the floor of the Senate yesterday, Dick Cheney told
Sen. Pat Leahy, "Go **** yourself." We agree! Go **** yourself -- while it's
still legal!

UPDATE: Speaking of sodomy. . . Wonkette operatives tell us that the
fighting words sprang from an exchange in which Cheney told Leahy he didn't
like what Leahy had been saying about Halliburton, to which Leahy replied
that he didn't like Cheney calling him a bad Catholic. So you'd see how "Go
**** yourself" is the only appropriate response.

More on/from Cheney:

The Weekly Standard has "maintained" a copy of Dick Cheney's Gridiron dinner
remarks. Funny, that. Who would guess that the magazine whose editorial
board helped shaped our foreign policy could possibly have access. . . Hey,
wait a minute. . .
But seriously, folks: Cheney's routine was as fresh as Senate bean soup and
proved that if there is a link from this administration to the neocons, it's
via Henny Youngman.

Lots of familiar faces here tonight. I always feel a genuine bond whenever
I see Senator Clinton. She's the only person who's the center of more
conspiracy theories than I am. . . . I thought you might have come up with
some new questions by now. And I have here some cards on which you have done
just that. . . .
Dave Broder: "How would you accurately describe your role in this
administration? Be honest."

I would say that I am a dark, insidious force pushing Bush toward war and
confrontation. . . .

It's funny because it's true!

Whew... I don't know if I would have the guts (no pun intended)
to use it.

Dunno. I told a powerboater to do precisely that when he seriously waked us
at anchor last weekend. Perhaps I should have been ashamed, but frankly it
felt good. :-)

Hey dumb**** (tool #1), you're the one who claimed that it was ok
for Cheney to cuss out the senator. Now you stupid moron (tool #2
or is it #1?), you can't justify your answer, so you attack me.

And we have another reprise of justifying bad behavior by pointing to

other
bad behavior. I recommend a little Mozart so you won't have to play the

same
tune so often. Perhaps even an original cadenza for a change.

On the other hand, perhaps we should treat it as temporary relief from the
other two tools in your toolbox-- insults and name calling.

Yeah, I've done that too, but neither of us are the VP. He should have
his mouth washed out.

Yeah, I had to wash my mouth out after that, too. I used Cruzan Blackstrap
Rum. Wonder what the VP used?

Oh my....so the VP should behave because he's a public figure but Clinton
didn't have to because he was "special"? Quite frankly, politician's have
nasty mouths (after all, most of them are lawyers)...and I don't think
that's an exclusive to one party or the other....It is said that LBJ had
about one of the most vicious...reason you didn't hear it in public was
because society at that time wouldn't have tolerated it...BTW, did you know
that the most common word used in the Republic of Ireland is f@#k?
