Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in December 1979. But that's not true. It was
six months before the Soviet invasion - on 3 July 1979 - that US President
Jimmy Carter authorized $500 million to help set up the Mujaheddin as a
terrorist organization, including Osama bin Laden.
