You might want to read up a bit. Closing a door to snuff a fire on a small boat can work. Most of the ng boats are about 30 feet long. If you are unlucky enough to have a fire, then you only have a few seconds to decide if you can extinguish it, - or if you need to evacuate the boat. Unless you have a boat like a Dehler (with its lifting washboards) you would be better off concentrating your efforts on launching the liferaft. I've read about it several times. Even in a home, fire safety PSA's say to "close the door" if you can't fight the fire effectivley. Idiot! Closing the door in your home doesn't take any time! So...you're wrong again, Donal.
