How would you define the ending of a nearly four-decade nuclear standoff between two superpowers when one declares an abandonment of its prime socioeconomic and governmental principles and the other does not change? Ummmm a fairy tale? If there was ever going to be a winner and loser it would never have happened. Oh, and maybe a quick look at a timeline might help.. Hmmm. What sort of revisionist (or simply conveniently altered) history do you get there in Oztralia? The cold war ended when a socialist nation simply could not continue under socialism. No one was producing anything, and the gummint could no longer provide for its people, let alone maintain the monstrous war machine it had created. Did the US (Reagan) accomplish this via any means, such as STI? Debatable, and inconclusive. But the USSR imploded, leaving the USA the sole remaining superpower. USA 1, USSR 0. Okay, let's now hear the Ozzy version. Max |
