That's a very low blow Donal, about what I'd expect from someone who uses

I just knew that you'd like it.

Doug stated: We seem to have skipped spring this year. Went from days in 40s
(5
degrees C for you civilized folk) to days in the 90s (35 C) in about a week.

You're complaining? It finally made 52 here about an hour ago and we've had
rain for 18 days straight now....we live a block up from the Grand River,
which is at 50 year flood stage (fortunately, we live on top of a BIG
hill...)

Yes. I like spring. I feel cheated that we got no spring this year...
although the wind has been pretty good so far.

You're complaining? We're still having drought. Although it has rained
here recently, we are far below normal water table and monthly rainfall
is well below historic averages. I'm glad I'm not a farmer.

BTW it's only smart to live on a hill... people who build and/or buy
homes in swamps and bottomlands should expect to get flooded. It's just
like people who build/buy homes on the Outer Banks should expect to get
cleaned off by hurricanes.

But then again, if people thought ahead more, we'd still have
problems... they'd just be more difficult to solve...

I would say the opposite... if you have nothing better to do than sit at
home & be electronically entertained, then you have a pretty empty life.

Go for a walk! Go to a concert! Go sailing! If you have to stay home &
sit around, read a book.

Yeah! What Doug said. Even with a broken arm, I don't vegetate in front
of an idiot box.

So what you are saying is that your out and moving all day every day? Well I'm
not. And sometimes I like to watch a movie full of gunfights, aliens and
explosions on my home theater. Sometimes I listen to music on my audio system.
Sometimes I mess around on the internet. Your obviously electronicly
entertained since your posting on here.

It's only an Idiot Box if you watch idiotic programs on it. We just enjoyed a
DVD of award winning German animation. Like I said, a person like Katie has
very limited tastes in art.

A lot of it, yeah. Except when I'm doing other things of course, but in
the last couple days I've been on & off my ship numerous times, back &
forth to town, checking email, building stuff at home (hopefully my
physiotherapist isn't reading this...) and after cooking dinner I read,
generally.

Well
I'm
not. And sometimes I like to watch a movie full of gunfights, aliens and

Which I find tedious & boring. Most TV is so idiotic that I simply
can't suspend my knowledge of what is known, scientifically, to be
entertained by utter crap. Frankly I regard it as an insult to my
intelligence. When I was in hospital the guy in the next bed was
torturing me by watching TV most of the day. Did that ever give me
incentive to get my ass out of bed and outa there..... even Discovery
Channel was at such a puerile level that it would have been vastly
improved had the soundtrack been deleted.

Sometimes I listen to music on my audio
system.

Which you can do while doing other things.

Sometimes I mess around on the internet. Your obviously electronicly

Yep but this is (more or less) an interactive medium. TV isn't. The
last guy who tried to sell me cable was lost for words when I told him
I never watched the free to air channels so why would I want to pay for
40 more channels of crap? As for watching sport, pah. Playing it is one
thing but watching it when you can be doing something else???????

Cracked hip is OK, back to 4 km/day walks in the afternoon. Arm is out
of plaster, got movement from 30 deg to 85 deg and a lotta
physiotherapy in my future to improve on that. Got told it'll be 3
months at least before I can paddle a kayak again so I'm back working
on my little daysailer instead :-) Obviously less strenuous to go
sailing esp when I can take one of my women with me to do the hard work
while I steer.

Bright side is, if I use a long stemmed wine glass, I can now drink
with the broken arm & eat brie on crackers with the good arm. Biig
improvement on having to put the glass down to eat. I can't open a wine
bottle yet but fortunately there are quite drinkable wines in casks.

Could be worse.
