Now that you actually have one, let's hope you'll be spending your time maintaining and sailing it rather than wasting your time on usenet. I used to post here a lot. Once I bought my boat, I kinda wandered away. IOW, now that you're in the club, you probably won't be around much to "enjoy" it. -- //-Walt // // Sigs suck. Oh, the irony. |

I hope she's as attractive in person as she in on the Internet, but for the price I could live with a wrinkle or two. Now that you actually have one, let's hope you'll be spending your time maintaining and sailing it rather than wasting your time on usenet. I foresee sunburn in my future. Went through my West Marine catalog some last night.* I could easily spend more on accessories than I did on the boat. I can't see where it has a VHF radio, and while you can get through the locks without one, having one is a whole lot easier. I don't have much use for a GPS receiver, as I find it hard to believe that I could become sufficiently lost on a river as to need one. A hand bearing compass might be good, though. It's generally very windy here, so a storm jib might find its way into the sail locker, and a dodger sounds like an attractive addition. I used to post here a lot. Once I bought my boat, I kinda wandered away. IOW, now that you're in the club, you probably won't be around much to "enjoy" it. A few months ago I was reading fairly regularly, but the incessant flamefest became tiring. We'll see. *Use the catalog to identify the products, and the Internet to get a better price. Which shouldn't be all that hard, I mean sheesh. I don't mind if they smoke dope, I do mind that they don't share. |

Which means that I've probably spent 5 or 6 times the purchase price on maintenance and upgrades - not sure exacty, I stopped counting when I got to a factor of three. And in case you're wondering, yes, it was worth it. -- //-Walt // // Sigs suck. Oh, the irony. |

I'm having trouble calculating the multiple I've spent on my
boat after buying her for $75. :-) -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Walt" wrote in message ... "A. Hey, for 1600.00 even if it's a real piece of work you still have a sailboat....if the outboards and dinghy are ok, then you've got something...actually, the pictures don't look all that bad... -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. Gongrats on the sailboat. Looks nice. Joining 'the club' is simple. The only
requirements are, (1) owning a sailboat and (2) paying the dues. Initial joining fee is $245.00, yearly dues are $20. Send cash (no canadjun crap) check, money order or gold doubloons to the treasurer; Scott Vernon 2nd barn on the left Plowville PA USA "Steve Daniels, Seek of Spam" wrote in message ...
