Jim won't regret his purchase because he is sensible enough to sail a boat
within its limits. It won't perform in the way that he expects. That
doesn't really matter. He will still get enormous pleasure from sailing.

Exactly, the only thing what matters is what Jim thinks about his
boat. But I don't think that's the point. The point is that he
justifies his purchase with wrong assumptions in the eyes of most
people (the vocal ones, that is) in this newsgroup, and those
assumptions are attacked IMO. I do think it's a pitty that those
discussions end in a name calling contest, though.....

Cheers!

Now Now Now...... not all dissenters and beraters were reduced to name
calling. Yet Donal specifically took issue with me despite my civil but
persistent replies.

No..... I understood immediately it was just your way of garnering
attention you hadn't earned as yet.

Empathy Central....that's me. ;-)

Isn't anybody concerned about the welfare of Jims grandchildren? Jim may do as he pleases, but it would be preferable if he didn't kill some of his
progeny in the process.

I once purchased a boat with wrong assumptions. I had a very steep learning
curve on the first few outings. I very quickly learned that the boat would
not do the things that I had planned before I took delivery. However, I
kept the boat for 10 years and I had a great time in her.

I agree that Jim's purchase is based on inaccurate assumptions. I also
think that he will learn the capabilities of his new boat very quickly. So
he won't take it out to sea, but he will still have a great time in it.

Do try to keep up Donal.... Bob is now claiming to be "Jim Cate" and I
doubt he is entertaining a Mac26M

Bob makes a lot of claims, non of which are even remotely based on the truth.
