Could have been in , Yesterday, as I was waxing the hull, they came by with
the crane and asked if I was ready. I said no, only finished waxing at 1400. Got to go to Boston today, maybe when I return she'll be in Scotty "N1EE" wrote in message om... In the competitive spirit of sailing, I've set a goal of being the first one sailing this year at the boat club. Unlike most of the club that depend on a one day crane rental for launching, I'm dry sailing, so I am excused from all that crap! grin I would love to be sailing while everyone is sweating there boats around the yard! Ha! Last fall, there were many jealous faces, while I sailed the wonderful late season we had and all the other boats were hauled. This week, I pulled by boat to the club, prepped my mast for stepping, debated whether I should install a windex or not, and decided to go ahead and install it since so many people sailing on my boat can't tell where the wind is coming from. Everything is ready to go. Tomorrow I'll be stepping HOOTs mast, if I can move one big boat mast and round up enough help. I'll have to drop the boat in the water, and then use a gin pole built into the opposite side of the hoist boom, to drop it in, and then haul the boat out again since my registration has not come in yet. There is a fellow in the area who came up with a good gin pole idea, to drop a mast in on the trailer, which is a great idea if you want to haul the boat around to various regattas. I joined another yacht club last December, and have a slip for the big boat, so I will likely be spending most of the spring sanding. My pickup is loaded with West System epoxy, filler, and sandpaper. What exciting things are the rest of you doing this spring? Bart Senior |

I like that challenge.. living at 22 degrees North Latitude
the rivers and lakes in the area are frozen solid.. except for a small pond that has an abundant supply of organic material.. hence not frozen. On 1 April 2004.. a famous Ottawa retiree.. Willie Watt.. launched his homemade plywood sailboat and sailed for several hours in a brisk breeze. And he repeated the fun and games on the water on 4 April. Best regards... John W. Bienko... aboard Blue Eyes...C&C 27 Mark III at the Britannia Yacht Club.. envying your long sailing season and the access to extended voyaging. -- Longing to be closer to to the sun, the wind and the sea! Spiritually at: Latitude 21 degrees 19' 9" North. _!_ Longtitude 157 degrees 56' 31" West. Aloha! ___o_(_)_o___ q |

I can guess how jumpy, twitchy and close to the edge you must be, after all the effort you put in as a MacAnonymous member, and after all those years finally defeating the habit...only to have another MacJunkie suddenly spout forth on the newsgroup. These lashings out at those who truly appreciate you are merely cries for help, and we do understand. So we're all supportive, Spotty, and we're all here to help you resist the siren call that Jim-the-Deafer has sounded. We know that what is cacaphony to our ears is still, at heart, music to yours. But be _strong_! Hang in there! Just keep your chequebook under lock and key and remember...even just one Mac is too many! -- Flying Tadpole ------------------------- Learn what lies below the waves of cyberspace! http://www.internetopera.netfirms.com |

I could have been in yesterday, but couldn't
find any crew! It takes three people to push the trailer to the hoist. Towing it over wasn't an option because there are rows of masts in the way and it's a very tight fit followed by a ramp. The weather was perfect 15-20 knots and 60 degree. I had everything rigged and ready, registration current, sails, lifejackets, and safety gear loaded --but no crew. I wish I was back in San Francisco --I never had trouble finding crew there. The water is very cold 42 degrees. I wonder how long an average person would last in in the water. 30 to 40 minutes? I got some sanding and fairing done on the big boat in the morning--good weather for that too. The wind blew the dust away nicely.
